Lessons and Mistakes From My Social Media Posts

  Posting on social media is not as easy as many people believe. There are many factors to consider when making a successful post on any platform, and I have made many mistakes in my posts in the past. So, here are some of my common mistakes and what I would do differently.

  One of my main mistakes with posting is posting without a strategy. If I post just for the sake of it, it is less likely to be successful, and over time, it may not lead me anywhere. So, next time, I will be more careful with my strategy by setting a clear goal for each post and thinking about what I want the audience to do or take away from it.

  Now, regarding my previous project, another mistake was focusing too much on the visuals. In my previous posts for the Duolingo ad campaign, I focused heavily on the video, which is important, but I also had to write and rewrite the captions to ensure they were convincing and aligned with the project's goal. From now on, I will prepare both the visual content and the caption with the same level of attention instead of focusing mostly on the video.

  The last mistake I realized I made was using the same approach for both platforms. I posted the video on Facebook and YouTube, but both platforms are completely different. They follow different strategies and best practices. Before researching the platforms, I did not consider this point as much as I should have, but I was able to follow best practices for both. Next time, I would research each platform before creating the content so I can make the necessary adjustments to the post.

  Overall, I learned that posting on social media requires planning and attention to detail. It is not just about creating something that looks good and posting it. The strategy, caption, audience, and platform all matter. I learned a lot from my previous posts and my recent project, and I know these lessons will help me improve my content in the future.
