Some major takeaways from creating the newsletter are the importance of structure and tone. First, newsletters need to be concise and easy to scan, so I had to work on writing clear and concise text. The main purpose of a newsletter is to catch the reader's attention quickly, so making it easy to scan is a good practice.

My favorite projects this semester were the press release and the news article.

The media is full of articles available online, and many more are created every hour. Due to this overflow of information, it is harder for journalists to attract people's attention, especially for those that are not well-known. 

Whenever a newsworthy event occurs locally or internationally, there are soon countless articles covering it. Journalists want to be the first to report breaking news, and there is often competition over who publishes the story first. However, some focus more on speed than accuracy in their stories.
