Following this week’s topic, news articles, there is one important aspect of this type of writing that I enjoyed learning about: how to make an article trustworthy.
We are constantly reading news online, and this overwhelming amount of information can make it difficult for us to identify if an article is trustworthy and follows ethical standards. Therefore, there are some elements we can look for in an article to make sure it is credible.
One of the main elements is that it includes claims with verifiable data. It either provides correct citations to official documents, quotes, and names other sources rather than just leaving the information without support.
Another important element is transparency. It is important to check if the article includes the author, shows where the information was obtained, and clearly leaves aside personal opinions and agendas.
Also, accuracy is another important element. News articles should include accurate dates, places, and information, and follow the correct structure.
It is always critical to verify these elements and focus on sources, evidence, accuracy, and objectivity to make sure the writing is credible.
